A seven-month old girl in the northern city of Hai Phong is on the verge of death due to serious complications caused by congenital heart disease, while his family is so poor to afford the cost of treatment.

Ten days after being born, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep’s skin suddenly become pale and she had trouble breathing. She then was diagnosed with a heart disease which led to her having surgery when she was just 4 four months old.
But just a short time after the operation, she suffered from complications, so doctors said she needed to have another operation to save her life.
Diep’s mother Nguyen Thi Thuong said she did not know how she could have enough VND80 million (USD3,809) for another operation. Meanwhile, her husband is very weak as he recently had a traffic accident.
Bui Quang Huy, a doctor from E Hospital where Diep is staying at, said that her situation is very critical. Surgery would help save her life.
Thuong used to work as a worker with a modest income of VND3 million per month.
But, after giving birth, she had to give up the job to take care of her sick baby. She tried to borrow money from different sources to pay for the previous operation and the treatment fees over the past months.
