A woman fighting for her life against breast cancer in Nghe An Province is in need of medical help and assistance to keep her adopted daughter in school after her husband died some years ago.
Dinh Thi Nam said she and her husband were unable to have children, but a newborn baby girl was left on their bed and they decided to adopt the child, naming her Nguyen Thi Men. Unfortunately, her husband was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer and died soon after.

Five years ago, Nam felt pain in her chest but could not afford to go to the hospital until the pain became too intense to bear. She was diagnosed with late stage breast cancer.
"The tumour is big and has spread to the lungs, it is also ulcerating so surgery cannot be recommend. The patient is receiving chemotherapy. The treatment can only prolong her life," said Hoang Thi Huong, of Nghe An Province's Oncology Hospital.

Men, now 13, was was sent to live with Nam's parents, but they too are poor and cannot afford Men's school supplies.
"I didn't give birth to her but we loved her like our own daughter. My parents are too old, if I die, who will help her?" Nam asked.
