DTiNews readers have sent nearly VND382 million (USD18,200) in support of Nguyen Thi Diem, a poor mother in Bac Ninh Province, who is in the final stages of cancer.
Family accepts donation
Donors also sent a number of other necessities such as milk, clothes and diapers. Nguyen Van Vien, Diem's husband, said, "I'm so grateful for all the kind people who sent gifts and visited us. All of our three children have milk to drink now."
On September 15, representatives of DTiNews sent VND381,880,000 given by readers to Diem's family. The 7X charity group also visited the family and gave VND8 million. Tran Kim Tuan, head of the group, said, "We have children so we understand the pain this family must be going through. We can only hope this will help them a little."

When she was diagnosed about a year ago, Diem was still pregnant with the couple's third child, so doctors could not treat her. Her condition quickly worsened and the baby was born premature. Diem's husband decided to stop working and stay home to take care of the family.
Upon receiving the donation, Diem said, "I still can't believe that there are so many kind people out there; strangers who are willing to help us. We will use this money to prepare for the children's future."
