Khoang Phuong Mai from the Ha Nhi ethnic minority group is undergoing treatment at K Hospital in Hanoi.
Mai has been suffering from bone cancer since late 2024 after her left leg became swollen and inflamed. Doctors at K Hospital then diagnosed Mai with stage 3 bone cancer.

According to doctors, Mai requires an artificial bone graft, which is estimated to cost around VND 200 million (about USD 8,000), but her family can't afford it.
After the article about her condition was published in Dantri/Dtinews, many readers joined hands to donate to the ailing girl.
On July 22, the newspaper allocated part of the donation, VND 270.62 million, to Mai's father, Khoang Chu Long. To date, the family has received a total donation of VND 420 million.
"We don't know what to say except thank you from the bottom of our hearts. My wife and I never dared to imagine our daughter would receive such immense love," Long said.
Phuong Mai was transferred to the Musculoskeletal Department at K Hospital for evaluation and preparation for her upcoming bone graft surgery.
