Dantri Newspaper has donated VND10 million (USD476) to help a 10 year-old girl in Ho Chi Minh City who was burnt by her own mother.

Nguyen Thi Kim Linh's father died years ago so Linh and her brother sold lotto tickets to help support the family. On August 25, Nguyen Thi Kim Linh was given 200 lotto tickets by her mother.
Because Linh failed to sell all the tickets, she was beaten by her mother. When they got home, her mother poured petrol and burnt Linh. Scared, Linh tried to hold onto her mother and as a result, both of them were badly burnt.
Their relatives were too poor to help them with the hospital charges.
Dantri's representative gives the donation to the family
When hearing of their situation, representative of Dantri Newspaper decided to give them VND10 million on August 27.
Nguyen Thi Duy, Linh's aunt, said the the girl's mother was very brutal. “She seems to have changed since the death of her husband," Duy said, "We hope Linh will benefit from this help."
Dr. Phan Vu Bao at Paediatrics Hospital 1 said, "Her health has improved after two days. Linh mainly received third-degree burns which covered almost 40% of her body."
