Dantri delivers additional VND 300 million to flood-hit residents

Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper has provided a further USD 12,000 in donations from readers to 60 households in My Ly Commune, Nghe An Province, whose homes were completely destroyed by recent floods.

On August 12, a Dantri delegation led by Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Xuan Toan visited My Ly to meet residents, offer encouragement, and deliver the second round of relief aid. The team handed over 60 gift packages, each worth VND 5 million (approximately USD 200), to affected families.

Toan said the funds represent the heartfelt support of Dantri readers nationwide for those in the disaster zone.

“We hope this assistance will help residents rebuild their lives,” Toan noted.

Vi Thi Don, 76, expressed her gratitude and emotion upon receiving the gift, saying it reflected the compassion of readers from across the country toward her family and other flood-hit households.

“Our home and belongings were swept away. Receiving this gift from Dantri readers is truly touching. I am deeply thankful,” Don said.

Nguyen Anh Doai, Party Secretary of My Ly Commune, said the late-July floods caused more than VND 513 billion (approximately USD 20.5 million) in damage. Hundreds of infrastructure facilities, schools, and homes were destroyed, while over 100 hectares of crops, nearly 700 cattle, and 9,000 poultry were lost.

“We are deeply moved and grateful for the care shown by people across the country and by Dantri during these difficult days,” Doai said.

Earlier, upon hearing of the disaster, Dantri Editor-in-Chief Pham Tuan Anh allocated VND 320 million (approximately USD 12,800) from the newspaper’s Compassionate Programme to urgently assist 63 households whose homes were washed away and one household that lost a family member, with each receiving VND 5 million (approximately USD 200).

The newspaper also delivered 300kg of rice, 30 boxes of instant noodles, and 47 crates of clean water, donated by readers, to local authorities in Nhon Mai commune to support residents in need.
