A family in Ben Tre Province is calling for community help to treat their son's leukemia because he wants to continue his studies.
Linh tries to keep up with his study
Nguyen Nhat Linh was preparing for the upcoming provincial Math Olympic contest for second graders when he fell ill about two months ago.
"We brought him to Cu Lao Minh Hospital then Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital, but he failed to improve," said Linh's father, Nguyen Van Nen.
They went to HCM City, where doctors at the National Hospital of Pediatrics diagnosed hematological malignancies and transferred him to HCM City Oncology Hospital.

Nen works as a casual labourer while his wife takes care of their child. They borrowed VND35m, but the money has run out. Many of Linh's medicines are not covered by health insurance.
Linh loves studying and hopes he can support his family when he grows up.
"Whenever the pain subsides, he asks to go to school," Linh's mother said.

Nguyen Van Bay, head of the Red Cross Organisation in Tan Thieng Commune, said, "Nen has worked various jobs to keep an income, but since Linh fell ill, their situation got worse. We are calling for help from the locals so Linh can continue going to hospital, but they need help from everyone.
