After 11 matches, Nguyen Anh Khoi earned 7 points, ranking first in the boys’ category while Nguyen Thi Mai Hung took top honours in the girls’ category with nine points. In the final matches, Anh Khoi,13, defeated Megaranto Susanto with an elo 2254 (highest among male contestants in Jakarta) to win the gold medal.
Meanwhile grandmaster Dao Thien Hai also got a silver medal at the event, helping the chess team obtain striking success at the competition recognized by the World Chess Federation (FIDE).
