A woman in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong has been fined VND10 million (USD434.78) for spreading false information about the sale of African swine fever-contracted dead pork.

A woman in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong has been fined VND10 million (USD434.78) for spreading false information about the sale of African swine fever-contracted dead pork.

Last week, Tran Thi Thu Hong, in Gia Nghia Town posted a claim many local traders dug up 800 pigs that had been buried due to being hit by the African swine fever for sale on her Facebook. She also posted the photos about many dead pigs lying in front of a small house.

The photo was included in Hong's status 

The status went viral, worrying the public. However, after that Hong removed it, explaining that she misunderstood the information and added that no outbreak of the epidemic was reported in Dak Nong.

She used the photo from the internet taken at a farm which had been burnt in a fire in Dak Nong early this month, resulting in the massive pig deaths because of suffocation.

To date, African swine fever has been reported in 21 cities and provinces. Nearly 65,000 pigs had been culled.
