The whale was seen some days ago by Le Truong Mit, a local fisherman, near Hoang Truong Beach in Hoang Hoa District.

Truong said that the eight-metre-long sea mammal swam near his fishing boat operating some 26 nautical miles from the shore.
“This is the first time I have seen such a whale despite being a fisherman for many years,” Mit noted.
According to Mit, the whale was initially quite far from his boat but when he turned the engine off it came nearer.
Whales have recently appeared in some localities, including Quang Ninh and Binh Dinh.
Vietnamese fishermen regard seeing whales as lucky while on trawling expeditions.
