Ba Thien 2 Industrial Zone

This is the fourth time Vinh Phuc’s authorities have asked the prime minister to reject the TAL Group’s textile and dyeing project at at Ba Thien 2 Industrial Zone. The provincial authorities held a conference to assess the environmental impact of the factory before sending the proposal.

During the conference with experts and representatives from other provinces and state agencies, 18 out of 21 attendees agreed that the factory was not suitable with the textile industry development plan to 2020 with a view to 2030 approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Vinh Phuc authorities also said that the project was not compatible with the municipal zoning plan.

It is agreed that Vinh Phuc needs sustainable development, balancing industrial development with service and agricultural development as well as protecting the environment.

According to the results of the conference, the factory still uses out-dated technology, posing high risks to Vinh Phuc's environment as well as provinces in the downstream of the May River.

Vinh Phuc People's Committee also gave TAL Group their official refusal.
