Vietravel Airlines to rebrand after ownership transition

Vietravel Airlines is set to change its brand name after T&T Group became the carrier’s strategic shareholder, the airline said.

A Vietravel Airlines representative said the company is undergoing a comprehensive restructuring of ownership and operations, with rebranding identified as the next step. The change is expected to be implemented in early Q2, 2026.

T&T Group and its affiliates became strategic shareholders of Vietravel Airlines in late 2024. In November 2025, Vietravel’s board approved a full divestment from the airline to refocus on its core tourism business, while terminating the use of the “Vietravel” brand by the T&T owned carrier.

Following T&T Group’s entry, Vietravel Airlines made notable adjustments. In 2025, the airline shifted from leasing to owning aircraft, taking delivery of its first owned Airbus A321, followed by an Airbus A320, with plans to further expand the fleet.

The carrier is focusing on domestic routes along the Hanoi-Danang/Ho Chi Minh City axis and Ho Chi Minh City-Phu Quoc, and operates one international route between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. From early February, it will add Ho Chi Minh City-Vinh services and increase frequencies on domestic routes to meet peak Lunar New Year or Tet holiday demand.

The move comes amid rapid growth in Vietnam’s domestic aviation market. In 2025, Vietnam Airlines carried more than 25 million passengers, up nearly 13 per cent year on year, accounting for about 46 per cent of the domestic market. Vietjet Air added 22 aircraft during the year, bringing its operating fleet to more than 100 planes.

After restructuring, Bamboo Airways is targeting a fleet recovery to around 30 aircraft in the coming years. The expansion by major carriers highlights rising air travel demand while intensifying competition.

At the same time, national aviation infrastructure has seen strong investment. The Long Thanh International Airport project in Dong Nai Province, covering about 5,000 hectares with phase one investment of more than VND 109 trillion (approximately USD 4.3 billion), has completed key infrastructure items and welcomed its first commercial flights in late 2025.
