
The Vietnam team won two gold, one silver, three bronzes and two consolation prizes
Two 12th graders Nguyen Manh Quan and Tran Quang Vinh from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School in Hanoi won the gold medals. 12th grader Bui Thanh Tan from Phan Boi Chau High School in Nghe An Province won the silver medal.
Three bronze medals belong to 12th grader Nguyen Trong Thuan from Lam Son High School in Thanh Hoa Province, 11th grader Le Minh Hoang from the High School for the Gifted under the Vietnam National University in Hanoi, and 12th grader Nguyen Hoang Nam also from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School.
Two 12th graders, Trang Dao Cong Minh from High School for the Gifted under the Vietnam National University in Hanoi and Nguyen Dac Tien from Bac Ninh Provincial High School for the Gifted won the consolation prizes.
Nguyen Manh Quan has the perfect score and was given a certificate of merit. This is the highest achievement Vietnamese student has attained at the APhO so far.
The APhO 2021 was organised by Taiwan. It was supposed to take place in 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The students took the tests online. Vietnamese students took the tests at the Hanoi National University of Education from May 16 to 24.
There are theory and practice tests that last for a total of 10 hours.
The Vietnam team will attend the closing ceremony online at the Hanoi National University of Education at 12 pm on May 24.
