The Vietnam team bagged 24 medals, including seven gold medals, at the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad 2016 in Indonesia.

All 24 of the team, aged between 11 and 12 won medals. Vietnam mathematics team won seven gold medals, two silver, three bronze medals and was the highest ranking team in the category.
The science team won ten silver and two bronze medals and ranked fifth.
Sixth-grader Pham Viet Hung won a gold medal with a near perfect score and ranked in the top 3 of highest rank holders. Hung said the competition was hard.
"We had to utilise our knowledge effectively to complete the questions. I want to dedicate this medal to my parents and teachers who have accompanied me all the way," Hung said.

The International Mathematics and Science Olympiad 2016 was held from November 9 to 13 in Tangerang, Indonesia. 400 pupils from 23 countries including China, Singapore, Netherlands, Iran and Bulgaria took part.
Pupils must fluent in English. Mathematics contest includes multiple-choice questions, constructed-response tests and discovery.
Science contests include theory and practice tests for physics, biology and chemistry.
