Organised by the Singapore’s Ministry of Defence and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), this year’s forum has brought together more than 550 delegates from over 40 countries, representing defence and security agencies around the globe.

The plenary and special sessions focus on themes, such as the United States’ New Ambitions for Indo-Pacific Security; Ensuring Stability in a Competitive World; Managing Proliferation Risks in the Asia-Pacific; Cyber, Undersea, and Outer Space Defence Challenges; Cooperative Maritime Security in the Asia-Pacific; and Defence Innovation Solutions for Future Challenges.

French President Emmanuel Macron who was visiting Singapore also delivered a keynote speech at the forum.

Vietnamese Defence Minister Phan Van Giang is expected to deliver a speech during the dialogue. On the sidelines of the event, he will also hold bilateral meetings with defence and military leaders from several countries to discuss ways to further strengthen defence cooperation.

Vietnam’s participation in the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue aims to reaffirm the country’s proactive, positive, and responsible role in addressing regional and international issues. It also demonstrates the country’s goodwill toward promoting friendship, cooperation, and experience sharing with other countries in tackling common security challenges.

Widely regarded as Asia’s premier security summit, the Shangri-La Dialogue serves as a critical platform for defence ministers, senior officials, business leaders, and security experts to discuss urgent regional security issues, engage in high-level bilateral talks, and explore new approaches to collective security.
