Vietnam will tighten checks and quarantine procedures on the border with Cambodia to protect the country from an unidentified disease that has killed 56 Cambodians recently, said Director of the Preventive Health Department Nguyen Van Binh.

It's reported the strange disease includes a variety of symptoms, including fever and respiratory and nervous system problems, followed by acute respiratory failure. The specific origin of the disease is still under investigation.
Binh asked international health quarantine and preventive health centres to closely supervise people coming through the border and separate people who are suspected as being sick.
The disease appeared in Cambodia's southern and central areas in April this year. Seventy-four patients have been reported and 56 of them have died. Most patients were from three months to 11 years old and died within 24 hours after being hospitalised.
