Vietnam sees slight rise in daily Covid-19 infections

Vietnam has continued reporting a slight increase in the daily Covid-19 caseload with 1,292 new infections confirmed on Thursday, an increase of 130 case against yesterday's figure, the Ministry of Health has reported.

According to the ministry, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10,764,986.

On July 21, an additional 4,999 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.83 million.

On Thursday evening, no deaths related to Covid-19 were recorded, total fatalities stayed at 43,091, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections.

By July 20, the country had injected more than 241 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

While the Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 have become the dominant forms among new virus cases in Vietnam, another variant, known as BA.2.12.1, has also been found in the country.
