Vietnam and Russia signed five important co-operation deals this morning (November 7) in a bid to boost their comprehensive strategic partnership relationship.

The deals included an inter-government agreement on co-operation on the research and use of space for peace purpose; a joint declaration on setting up a high-ranking taskforce to speed up Vietnam-Russia prioritised projects; a memorandum of understanding on renewable energy co-operation; an exchange of diplomatic notes on time-limited labour co-operation and exchange of diplomatic notes on opening Russia’s trade representative agency in HCM City.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the two governments agreed to heighten bilateral ties in economics, trade and investment and start negotiations for the signing of an FTA between Russia-Kazakhstan-Belarus Customs Union.
“The two governments will offer favourable conditions for two-country businesses in oil exploration and jointly implement the Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant as well as take military co-operation to new heights,” Dung added.
PM Medvedev said, “We will consider large-scaled projects between the two countries, including the construction of Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant.” He also expressed joy to see new Vietnamese-Russian projects, including a number of joint ventures which started operating in Russia.
He also disclosed that negotiations for FTA between Vietnam and the Russia-Kazakhstan-Belarus Customs Union would begin early next year.
The two government leaders vowed to expand multilateral relations in other sectors, including education, science and technology, education, culture and tourism and infrastructure.
