Vietnam ranks 53th in prosperity index

Vietnam is ranked 53th among 144 countries in this year’s Legatum Prosperity Index, jumping eight notches against last year, according to a report released by British think tank the Legatum.

The country was placed at 39th position in terms of economy; 73th in entrepreneurship and opportunity; 61th in governance; 80th in education; 80th in health and 55th in safety and security.

Regarding country overview, the country earned higher points against the global average in the areas of life satisfaction, life expectancy, people who are treated with respect and female representation in parliament.

However, the country is left behind with the global average in the aspects of GDP per capital as well as internet access at home.

Norway was the top ranked country in the index for the third year in a row, followed by Denmark and Sweden.

The United States fall out of the top 10 for the first time since the institute began conducting the survey and ranked 12th after falling eight spots in the entrepreneurship and opportunity sub-index.
