Vietnam produces SARS-CoV-2 test kit
After a month of research, they have successfully made the kit which has sensitivity and specificity similar to those of the real-time RT-PCR developed by the WHO and the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in the US. The production line quality meets the ISO 13485 standards and the ISO 8 cleanroom.
The kit was tested at the National Institute of Hygiene And Epidemiology for the sensitivity, accuracy and returning results. The institute concluded that the kit should be used to test for SARS-CoV-2. At 4 pm on March 3, the National Council of Science and Technology set up by the Ministry of Science and Technology also tested the kit and agreed to mass-produce the kit.
Viet A Technology JSC can produce 10,000-30,000 kits a day which is enough not only for domestic use but also for export in case the outbreak worsens internationally.
Vietnam is one of a few countries that can make the test kit besides, WHO, Japan, Germany and China.
