The AstraZeneca and Oxford University Covid-19 vaccine, which will be enough for 15 million people, is expected to be brought to Vietnam this year.

Regarding who will be provided with the vaccine, Cuong noted that this needed to be carefully considered by different concerned agencies. In necessary cases, the Ministry of Health would ask the government for its opinion.

Meanwhile, Vietnam was also in talks with Russia to look at technology transfers related to the Covid-19 vaccine production so that the Sputnik V vaccine could be produced in Vietnam.

At the government meeting, Minister, Chairman of the Office of the Government Mai Tien Dung said that Vietnam would continue prioritizing Covid-19 prevention and control this year. He warned about tighter control over the disease as Vietnam would see more people from abroad arriving in the coming Lunar New Year Holiday.
