Vietnam confirms six new imported Covid-19 patients on Friday

Three Vietnamese people and three Belarusian nationals who recently arrived in Vietnam have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,391.

According to the ministry's report, the three Vietnamese people including two men and a woman who returned from Russia and the Republic of Korea in late November and early December.

They were sent to quarantine areas in Khanh Hoa Province and Danang City upon arrival and are now being treated at local hospitals.

The three Belarusian nationals are a couple aged 27 and 30 and their three-year-old son.

They landed at Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport on November 28 and were sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival.

The family tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on December 11 and are now being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 697.

As of 6 pm on December 11, a total of 1,237 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, over 20,832 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
