
People wait for Covid-19 testing in Hanoi
According to the ministry's report, 4,512 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 40 localities including HCM City (1,662), Binh Duong (820), Dong Nai (575), An Giang (308), Soc Trang (192), Binh Thuan (122), Kien Giang (113), Dak Lak (85), and Dong Thap (81). There were one imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of 261 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,173 infections found in the community.
As of Saturday evening, 831,523 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (409,061), Binh Duong (221,300), Dong Nai (54,327), Long An (33,226), and Tien Giang (14,477). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 836,134. The country now stands 42nd among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 9, an additional 1,319 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 760,801.
On Saturday evening, a further 105 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 20,442. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (74), Binh Duong (18), An Giang (5), Dong Nai (3), Tien Giang (2), Tay Ninh (2), and Hanoi (1).
The country has so far conducted over 51.96 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 14.24 million people having received two doses.
