Vietnam have followed the situation with keen interest, and hopes parties concerned will settle differences in line with international law and through peaceful means, to ensure safety and security of international flights over the regional airspace, and contribute to peace, stability and development in the region, said Le Hai Binh, deputy spokesperson for the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Binh also answered reporters’ question regarding China’s possibility of creating a similar ADIZ in the East Sea.
All activities in the East Sea should respect the sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of relevant countries, as well as international law and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), without further causing tension and complicating the situation, he said.
Binh said Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, normally conducts flights over China’s claimed air defence identification zone. All the flights are notified to the authorities of concerned countries in accordance with regulations and international practices.
