Vietnam aviation records over 1,000 flight cancellations in Jan-Jul

Vietnam’s aviation sector logged 1,097 flight cancellations in the first seven months of 2025, equal to 0.7 per cent of total flights, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

The domestic industry operated 164,577 flights in the period, up from 154,276 a year earlier. Despite growth, average on-time performance dropped 11 percentage points to 62.7 per cent.

Bamboo Airways reported the lowest cancellation rate at 0.1 per cent and also led in punctuality with 80.1 per cent of flights on time. VietJet Air posted a 0.6 per cent cancellation rate, Vietnam Airlines 0.8 per cent, Pacific Airlines 0.9 per cent, and Vietravel Airlines 1.2 per cent. VASCO had the highest rate at 1.4 per cent.

Pacific Airlines and VASCO achieved on-time rates of 79.2 and 79.1 per cent, while Vietnam Airlines posted 70 per cent and Vietravel Airlines 68.5 per cent.

Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi expects nearly 110,000 passengers and 638 flights on peak days of the upcoming holidays marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, about 20 per cent higher than last year. The airport has worked with airlines on contingency plans to ensure smooth operations.
