A ceremony to honour the Nghe Tinh Vi-Giam folk singing of Vietnam as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity is set to take place on January 31, 2015 in Vinh City.

This information was released at a press briefing on December 25 during which Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien highlighted Vi-Giam folk singing national and world heritage which has been recognised by the UNESCO’s Inter-governmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Nghe An provincial People’s Committee said the preservation of Vi Giam folk singing has been maintained for years to promote the value of the cultural heritage.
Nguyen Manh Thang, Deputy Secretary-General of Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO in turn confirmed that this year, Vietnam’s four intangible heritages recognised by UNESCO have vividly demonstrated the country has great potential for cultural heritages as its localities have appeared in the international map.
He emphasised the commission would work with localities and relevant ministries and agencies to preserve and promote the value of heritages effectively to meet UNESCO requirements.
