A wooden boat measuring about 15 metres in length washed ashore in the central province of Quang Tri Province on March 13 with no crew, identification number or equipment on board.
Local residents discovered the vessel at around 9 am along the coast of Thu Luat Hamlet in Vinh Hoang Commune, according to the Cua Tung Border Guard Station.
An initial inspection showed the boat was flying the Vietnam flag and measured about 15 metres long, four metres wide and five metres high.
Authorities said the vessel had no registration number and had suffered severe damage to its bow and deck. No people, machinery, equipment or fishing gear were found on board.
Border guards coordinated with relevant agencies to document the incident. The boat has since been handed over to local authorities, who will manage it while searching for its owner.
