Workers at Thanh Hoa Power Company carry out repairs at a power pole on August 25.

The Northern Power Corporation (NPC) said electricity has been restored to over half a million customers, but around 395,000 in Thanh Hoa, 870,000 in Nghe An, and 349,000 in Ha Tinh remain without power due to heavy rain and blocked roads.

While several power poles were damaged, many key substations have resumed service, restoring supply to hospitals and essential infrastructure.

NPC has mobilised its maximum workforce and equipment, trying to fully restore electricity in the three provinces before September 1.

Typhoon Kajiki made landfall in central Vietnam on August 25 with sustained winds of 10 to 12 Beaufort scale, battering the region for over 10 hours before weakening into a tropical depression as it moved into Laos on August 26.

Authorities have urged residents not to use unnecessary appliances, avoid using outlets in flooded areas, and only reconnect electricity after safety checks to prevent accidents.
