Trial run scheduled for HCM City metro line

Part of the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro project in HCM City is slated to have a test run on December 21.

According to the HCM City Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR), the trial operation will be conducted on the route’s elevated section, which links Suoi Tien Station in District 1 and Binh Thai Station in Thu Duc City.

The train will stop to pick up and drop off passengers during the pilot run.

The test will be carried out in other sections of the project after the first run is successful. Meanwhile, the whole route is expected to be tested in March 2023.

By late November this year, as much as 92% of the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line was completed.

At present, 17 made-in-Japan trains are being equipped at Long Binh Depot in Thu Duc City. Each train can transport 930 passengers.

The Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro project is 19.7 kilometres long. Work on the project was started in 2012. However, due to different reasons, the project has been sluggish. The whole route is slated to be put into use by late 2023.
