Tourists warned of illegal beach services in Danang

Danang City's Son Tra Ward Border Guard Post has fined several boat owners for running illegal sea tours, particularly unlicensed night squid-catching services.

According to the post in Danang, some fishing boats have been found illegally operating night squid and fish-fishing tours, carrying tourists out to sea without permission.

These services continue to operate openly, advertising on social media platforms such as Facebook and TikTok with numerous videos and posts that promote their experiences.

Authorities argue these activities pose serious safety risks and violate regulations on fisheries exploitation, resource protection and inland waterway transport.

The Son Tra Border Guard Post discovered and handled multiple violations. At about 5.30 pm on October 1, while patrolling the waters off the Son Tra Peninsula, the unit stopped vessel DNa-11837-TS.

The inspection found the boat carrying two passengers, providing night squid fishing. The owner was fined VND 13 million for the violation.

Earlier, at around 10.30 am on August 28, the Son Tra Border Guard Post observed fishing boats DNa-11371-TS and DNa-11842-TS, each carrying 15 people without proper documentation. The boat owners were fined 12 million VND.

Locals and tourists are advised to carefully choose licensed operators when joining marine experience activities. Travelling on unregistered, unsafe and unlicensed boats poses serious risks to passengers.

According to a representative of the Son Tra Peninsula and Danang Beach Management Board, the board has not organised any night squid-fishing tours. All such services currently operating are unlicensed.
