Thua Thien-Hue coastline erodes, threatening 900 households

A coastline section of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has severely eroded following Storm Trami, posing a danger to around 900 households.

The section is approximately 10 kilometres long and runs through Hue City and the districts of Phu Loc and Phu Vang.

The erosion in the coastline area going through Giang Hai and Vinh My communes in Phu Loc District has encroached 10-30 metres inland, threatening 400 local households.

Thua Thien-Hue has declared a state of emergency because of the coastal erosion in Giang Hai

The area of coastal protective forests in Giang Hai Commune is rapidly narrowing due to erosion, forcing many households to be relocated.

On October 28, Thua Thien-Hue declared a state of emergency because of the coastal erosion in Giang Hai.

The province has built 3.4 kilometres of embankments in Giang Hai. However, many sections of the coastline in the locality and the province in general need to be constructed.
