According to a new report on urban development plan towards 2025 by the city People's Committee, the three new university complexes would be built at Ho Chi Minh City's gateways, in a bid to ease pressure on transportation, administrative and social systems in the city centre.

One of the complexes will be located in a 864 hectare area north-east of the city, across its Thu Duc District and District 9, and part of Binh Duong Province' Di An District.

The second complex will be positioned in 847 hectare area in the South Saigon new urban area towards the South, across Binh Chanh and Nha Be Districts.

The third one will be built in the North West Cu Chi urban area in Hoc Mon and Cu Chi Districts, with 660 hectares in area.

The city People’s Committee hopes that the planning will allow new university complexes to be equipped with modern facilities for better learning and teaching.

The city's education authority has expressed desire to enable closer connection between education and training with employment demands and requirements.

The city has implemented a more open education policy, under which international partnerships can be expanded.
