The Bomb and Mine Clearance Unit under the Lung Lo Construction Corporation has discovered an unexploded bomb which weighs 3,000 pounds (1.5 tonnes).
According to Colonel Tran Van Dong, Deputy General Director of the Lung Lo Construction Corporation, this kind of massive bomb was dropped by US fighter planes aiming to destroy bridges and factories during the war in Vietnam.
Its lethality zone is a 500 metre radius, said Dong.
The bomb, which was detected two metres below ground in My Hao district, Hung Yen province on October 26, was immediately defused.
