The scene of the accident.
Rescue workers recovered the final victim in the early hours of December 15 after a landslide struck National Highway 6 through Mai Chau Commune at 2.45 pm on December 14.
About 1,000 cubic metres of soil and rocks collapsed onto the road, trapping two male workers carrying out maintenance and a man riding a motorbike through the area.
Rescuers later found the bodies of two men aged 45 and 28, and continued searching overnight for a third victim, a 52-year-old man. Traffic was restored shortly after 5 am on December 15.

The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam warned that the area remains at risk of further landslides, posing a threat to road safety. A taskforce has been sent to assess risks and propose remedial measures, while road management units were ordered to step up monitoring, install warning signs and prepare traffic diversions if needed.
Light rain was recorded in Mai Chau on December 13 and December 14.
