Over 800,000 pupils have started preparations to take on the national final exams on July 1.

Pupils will be tested on maths, literature, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and foreign languages. They will take multiple-choice exams for physics, chemistry, biology and written exams for the rest.
It is reported that 887,396 pupils have gone to 120 examination locations to be informed of exam rules and start admission procedures. The number of sitting exams decreased by 118,258 compared to last year, with 286,129 only taking exams to finish high school, while 519,497 are sitting exams to finish high school with these results used for university admission. The rest only take the tests to enter universities.
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have 76,137 and 65,000 attendants, the highest number in the country.
To support pupils from other provinces and cities, local authorities are checking available motels and guest houses and dormitories to accommodate thousands of pupils and their families. Ho Chi Minh City has over 65,000 candidates.
The first exams are maths and foreign languages which will be held on July 1.
The Ministry of Education and Training merged the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam into one last year. Students were tested in four subjects, three of them compulsory - mathematics, literature and a foreign language. After learning of their results, the students will apply for a suitable university.
