At a handover ceremony on January 22, Vietnamese, German University and the German World University Service provided equipment worth more than VND 800 million (approximately USD 30,400) to the participating schools.

Speaking at the event, Kambiz Ghawami, president of the German World University Service, said Vietnam is among Southeast Asia’s leading countries in building a legal framework for artificial intelligence, with a dedicated law expected to take effect in March 2026. He noted that alongside rapid digital transformation, vocational education in Vietnam is undergoing positive change, with the Digital Transformation Expert programme playing a key role.

The Digital Classroom model is based on five German standard pillars, including digitalised school management, lecturer capacity building, interactive digital learning resources, modern teaching infrastructure, and stronger links between vocational schools and businesses. The model will be adapted to local vocational education conditions in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnamese, German University and its German partners reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Vietnam’s education digital transformation, expressing hope that trained experts will become a core force in sustaining and spreading these practices across the vocational education system.

Project sponsors expect the 12 beneficiary institutions to gradually develop into model practice centres for digital transformation, refine digital manuals and apply a train the trainers approach. This is intended to scale up the Digital Classroom model nationwide and contribute to a higher quality workforce for the emerging digital labour market.

The Digital Classroom initiative is part of the Digital Change Expert project launched in 2023 under a strategic partnership between the German state of Hesse and Vietnam, aimed at modernising vocational education and strengthening digital transformation capacity at training institutions.

Following phase one, which trained nearly 30 leaders and managers, the project has entered phase two, focusing on practical application and technology transfer for 34 officials from 12 intermediate and college level institutions in Ho Chi Minh City.
