The mausoleum is located at Ba Dinh Square where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on September 2nd, 1945 proclaiming Vietnam’s independence and the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

From early this morning, lines of people coming from different parts of the country waited outside to visit the mausoleum.

Tran Thu Lien from the northwestern province of Hoa Binh said that this was the first time she visited the mausoleum. "I’ve come with some friends and we were all happy to be here," she said.

Dang Thi Doan from Bac Tu Liem District said that her family visit the mausoleum on National Day every year. She said that they come to commemorate Uncle Ho on the anniversary of his death and also to celebrate the National Day.
