Continuous downpours over several days have caused widespread flooding and landslides across central Vietnam, isolating thousands of residents in mountainous and low-lying areas.

On October 27, Nguyen Van Vinh, Chairman of the Dak Plo Commune People’s Committee in Quang Ngai Province, said several transport and irrigation works had been damaged by landslides, leaving 449 households with more than 1,500 people cut off. Local authorities and rescue teams are providing food, water, and medical supplies to affected residents.
Authorities have also relocated 26 households with 116 people from high-risk areas to safe shelters as heavy rain continues.
In Danang City, hundreds of households in flood-prone and landslide-affected communes have been evacuated. On the night of October 26, rescue forces used boats to assist in relocating 206 residents in Tra Linh Commune and nearly 330 others in Tra Leng Commune.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, rainfall between 7 am and 8 pm on October 26 reached 526mm at Bach Ma Peak (Hue), 474.2mm at Tra Don Station (Danang), and 413mm at Tra Thanh (Quang Ngai).
That evening, the Hue Department of Education and Training announced that all schools in the city would close on October 27 as rivers continued to rise, causing flooding in multiple areas.

Heavy rain is forecast to persist from October 27 to 28, with total rainfall in the region from Hue to Danang and eastern Quang Ngai expected to range between 250-450mm, and locally exceeding 600mm.
