The move came after the fanpage of Danang Grab taxi drivers shared on Sunday the Facebook status of a Thai female tourist who complained about being overcharged by a Grab driver.
According to the tourist, she had agreed with the driver on a fee of VND1.50 million (USD 61) for a trip from her hotel in Danang to Ba Na Hill and Hoi An City, including a drop at Linh Ung Pagoda. However, the driver then asked her to pay VND 3.80 million.
“I was very shocked," the tourist wrote. "The fee was not as we had agreed. So don't believe them, don't be cheated like us."
The tourist also posted a photo of the taxi's registration number.
Speaking about the issue, director of the Danang City Centre for Tourism Promotion Nguyen Thi Hoai An, said that they had heard about the complaint and had contacted the Grab Company for investigation.
"Grab said that the driver had stopped working for them since February," An said. "The passenger hadn't booked the trip on Grab's app but called the driver and they agreed on the fee themselves."
The official also said that they had contacted the transport department to deal with the case.
