The World Expo 2030 Busan Forum has just been held in Busan to check the preparations for the bid and promote the city.
The event, which was co-hosted by the Kookje Daily News and Asia Journalist Association in early November, saw the attendance of foreign journalists from Egypt, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Iran, and Kyrgyzstan, all of whom are members of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
The journalists were guided on a tour of the northern port area, where the World Expo 2030 Busan could be held, and visited Korean global companies and government agencies.
Speaking at the forum, Koo Bon-hong, chairman of the Asian Journalists Association, said: “Busan has entered the countdown of the bid competition".

Busan, which was Korea’s second-largest city and greatest port city, has captured world attention as one of the leading contenders to host the World Expo 2030. In June 2021, the Republic of Korea submitted a letter of candidature to the BIE for hosting the World Expo 2030 in Busan.
According to local authorities, the whole city is eager to host the World Expo 2030 as it is developed, has a good geographical location and is experienced in hosting such events.
Sub-themes at the event would be the global challenges of climate change, the downside of digital transformation, and inequality among and within nations.
