Six people have died and three others injured after a truck plunged into a valley in the Central Highlands Province of Gia Lai early Wednesday morning.

According to a report from Gia Lai Provincial Transport Department, the accident occurred in Dak So Mei Commune, Dak Doa District at about 1 am on February 9 when a truck carrying cassava lost control and fell into a valley.
Driver Huynh Duc Nguyen, 39, and five other men aged between 24-48 were found dead on the spot while three other men were injured and had been brought to hospital, the department said.
One of the injured men, Guem said that he and the other men were going to work as porters when the accident happened.

Guem is being treated at a local hospital
"I was sleeping on the truck when I heard loud screams as the truck fell into the valley," he remembered. "Then I woke up to find myself in the hospital."
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has sent condolences to the victims' families and instructed concerned departments to urgently investigate the cause of the accident.
