Seven firms fined in Danang over counterfeit goods

Authorities in Danang City have fined seven businesses more than VND 215 million (approximately USD 8,200) and ordered the destruction of counterfeit goods following surprise inspections.

Market Surveillance Team 2 recently carried out checks at outlets in Son Tra and Hoi An wards, uncovering large quantities of fake branded items.

Seized goods included 295 counterfeit handbags labelled as Gucci, Chanel, Hermes and Fendi, along with 27 pairs of fake Nike trainers. The total value of the goods was estimated at more than VND 177.9 million (approximately USD 6,800).

All items were confiscated, sealed and ordered for destruction, while administrative penalties were imposed on the violators.

The inspections form part of intensified market controls ahead of the Danang international fireworks festival 2026, when demand typically rises and the risk of counterfeit trade increases.

Authorities said enforcement will continue to focus on tourist areas, shopping streets and commercial centres, alongside efforts to raise legal awareness among traders and consumers and strengthen coordination between agencies.
