Flood levels on major rivers in Hue continued to surge from Sunday night, forcing the city to shut all schools on Monday to ensure student safety.

On the night of November 2, floodwater spilled into the yards of many homes across the city.

Over the next 24 hours, water levels on the Huong, Bo, Ta Trach, Truoi and O Lau rivers are expected to keep rising as heavy rain continues.

Authorities warn of widespread flooding in low-lying and urban areas, along with risks of flash floods and landslides in mountainous districts. The situation could affect transport infrastructure, agriculture and daily life. Residents are advised not to cross fast-flowing waters for safety.

Given the worsening conditions, Hue’s Department of Education and Training ordered all students to stay home on November 3.

On the afternoon of November 2, the city’s civil defence command reported rainfall of 200 to 300mm within six hours in several locations.
