Russia’s First Deputy Foreign Minister visits Vietnam

At the reception, Deputy PM Minh highly lauded the two sides’ maintenance of their strategic dialogue mechanism, facilitating information exchange and supporting each other to effectively fulfil their political duties.


Regarding bilateral relations, the Deputy PM expressed his pleasure at the continued development of Vietnamese-Russian cooperation, emphasising that Vietnam attaches great importance to the time-honoured friendship between the two countries.

He also underlined that close cooperation between Vietnam and Russia in 2020, especially with many important events such as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and other major events, will contribute positively to further strengthening bilateral relations.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his wish that the two sides continue to coordinate closely, promptly solve difficulties and shortcomings and foster bilateral cooperation in such fields as politics, defence and security, economics - trade, energy, oil and gas, and humanitarian cooperation.

For his part, Russia’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam for the 11th Vietnam-Russia Strategic Dialogue, affirming that Russia attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.

First Deputy Foreign Minister Titov stated that Russia supported and was willing to coordinate with Vietnam while the country is serving as Chair of ASEAN in 2020 as well as assuming the role of a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020 - 2021 tenure.

He also expressed his wish that the cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and ASEAN will be further promoted in the near future.

Russia will continue to cooperate closely with Vietnam on its comprehensive strategic partnership to develop substantially and dynamically, and will work together with Vietnam to contribute to the maintanence of peace, stability and cooperation in the region and around the world, he added.
