Russian President Vladimir Putin has just arrived in Hanoi, beginning his state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang.

His flight arrived at Noi Bai International Airport at 7:30am on November 12. This is his third visit to Vietnam after the previous visits in 2006 and 2011. Vietnam is the second country in the Asia-Pacific region Putin visited to after China this year.
This aim of this visit is to strengthen the strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam, promote mutual understanding and trust between the two countries’ top leaders, as well as increase bilateral cooperation in all areas.

President Truong Tan Sang received President Putin at the Presidential Palace at 1.20pm.
President Putin will leave Vietnam tonight for South Korea.
