Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov arrived in Hanoi on March 23, beginning his official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart General Phung Quang Thanh.
During their talks, both host and guest pledged to strengthen the traditional long-term friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.
They informed each other about the socio-economic development situation and discussed measures to tighten cooperative ties for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
Minister Anatoly Serdyukov expressed his delight at the fine development in bilateral ties, as well as Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in national construction and defence.
He said he hopes that his visit will help boost the two countries’ relations in various fields, especially in national defence and military cooperation.
Earlier, the Russian Minister and his entourage laid a wreath at the Martyrs Monument and paid tribute to the late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum. They also paid a courtesy visit to State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
