Han is scheduled to arrive in Hanoi on July 24 and stay there till the following day for the funeral.
RoK President Yoon Suk-yeol earlier cabled a telegram of condolence to Vietnamese President To Lam after hearing the news about the Party leader’s passing.
In his telegram, Yoon described Trong as a respected leader who had made outstanding contributions to spurring Vietnam’s brilliant development, as well as to deepening the friendship and cooperative relations between the RoK and Vietnam.
Vietnam and the RoK established diplomatic ties in 1992. Bilateral relations have since made great progress with important milestones, from the Comprehensive Partnership in 2001 to the Strategic Partnership in 2009 and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.
