In recent days, fast-flowing water from the Thao and Da rivers has triggered serious erosion along riverbanks in several villages of Tam Nong Commune.
The riverbank is eroding rapidly, with 10-20 metres lost each day, and an estimated 20 hectares have already been affected.

The erosion covers a length of around 300 metres, affecting as many as 30 households.

According to local authorities, erosion along the Thao River has opened two deep cracks on the access road to the riverbank and fractured the wall of a house in Huong Non.

Forces have been deployed to maintain surveillance, monitor the erosion, and facilitate the evacuation of residents to ensure their safety. Meanwhile, warning signs and cordons have been set up around the danger zone to bar people and livestock from entering.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is collaborating with local authorities to reinforce the eroded riverbank and will propose additional solutions to address the issue.
