The elephant, estimated to be about three years old, became trapped in a mango garden in Tri An Ward and was seen struggling to climb out in footage widely shared on social media.
Local residents alerted authorities after spotting the distressed animal.

Rescue teams from the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, local authorities and residents later coordinated efforts to save the elephant.
Excavators and tractors were used to widen the edge of the pit and create a gradual slope to help the animal climb out without becoming further distressed.

After nearly three hours, the elephant successfully escaped from the pit and returned safely to the forest, where it later rejoined its herd.
Authorities said the incident occurred on the morning of May 13.
Following the rescue, local officials inspected and filled nearly 80 deep pits in the area to reduce risks to residents and wildlife.
