Local officials said on April 1 that authorities had received a small slow loris voluntarily surrendered by a resident.
Do Thi Lan, a resident of Chieng Sinh ward, found the animal inside her home on March 31. Recognising it as a rare wild species, the family safely captured it and reported the case to local authorities and ward police, who transferred it to Forest Protection Unit XII for handling in accordance with regulations.

The slow loris is listed as a critically endangered and rare forest species in Group IB, with strict prohibitions on exploitation, hunting, captivity or commercial use in any form. Violations may face severe legal penalties.

A local government representative said the animal will be transferred to Muong La Nature Reserve for care and health monitoring before being released back into the wild.
